Health Care Assistants

The practice employs five Health Care Assistants who are able to take blood, undertake spirometry, do blood pressure readings, take ECGs, do diabetic foot pulses, health checks and weigh patients for the Weight Management Clinic.

Our health care assistants are Sarah Vero-Bray and Kathleen Bedford.

Physiotherapist

In January 2021, Michelle Collins, started with the Practice. This was a new role and is evolving throughout many GP practices across the Country. She is a Chartered Physiotherapist by background and based at Newbold Verdon on a Thursday and Friday.

Michelle can use advanced skills to assess, diagnose and start treatment for musculoskeletal conditions. Traditionally, with these problems you would see your GP first and then if appropriate be referred to a Physiotherapist. However, having a Physiotherapist at the Practice means a quicker first contact, longer appointment times enabling a greater understanding of the presenting condition, less medication, recovery times are proving to be quicker, and GP appointments are available for other patient conditions. Exercises can be started on the first contact, referral pathways accessed, and imaging requested if appropriate. To access this service, appointments can be booked via Reception without the need of seeing a GP prior to booking.
