Rebecca Bowler - Practice Manager

Rebecca grew up in Leicester and lives in Countesthorpe with her husband.

She worked for 15 years in the private healthcare sector as a Human Resources Manager before joining the practice, bringing strong experience in HR, leadership, and organisational management. She graduated in 1996 with a qualification from the Institute of Personnel and Development.

Rebecca joined the practice in 2004 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the practice, overseeing administration, staffing, and financial operations. She works closely with both clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure the smooth running of services and continued development of the practice.

Outside of work, she enjoys running, cycling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Clare Davenport - Clinical Nurse Lead

With 27 years at the practice, she began her career as a Practice Nurse before expanding into dispensing and becoming Clinical Nurse Lead. She remains committed to delivering high-quality patient care and continues to run a monthly baby vaccination clinic andprovide coil clinic services.

As Clinical Nurse Lead, she oversees the nursing team, supports staff development, maintains high clinical standards, and works closely with GPs and the practice management team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred carewhile helping to develop and improve nursing services.

Venetia Gilbert - Operations Manager

Venetia has been part of the practice team since 2014, beginning her journey as a Receptionist before progressing through Dispensing, IT Lead, Patient Services Manager, and now Operations Manager. Her experience across the practice gives her a thorough understandingof both patient services and day-to-day operations.

She works closely with the Practice Manager and clinical leadership team to support the smooth running of the practice while continuing to lead IT and digital development. Outside of work, Venetia enjoystravelling, exploring the countryside with her Golden Retriever, and spending time with her husband.

Lisa Cook - Senior Pharmacy Technician / Dispensary Manager

Lisa's background covers both hospital and community pharmacy, along with many years spent working with the Medicines Optimisation team at the Integrated Care Board in Leicestershire, where she provided prescribing support for our practice and other GP practices across Hinckley and Bosworth. She brings over 30 years of NHS experience to the team. Lisa joined us permanently in 2020 and now leads our dispensaries, ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and smoothly for our patients.

Away from the practice, she enjoys family time, cycling with friends, exploring new places and walking with her dog.

Medical Secretaries & GP Assistants

Amy Powell is the practice Medical Secretary and works closely with all GPs. She is responsible for managing referral letters, undertaking Choose & Book bookings, processing insurance reports, and overseeing clinical workflow to support efficient patient care. Amy is based at Newbold Verdon and has been with the practice since 1997.

Leah Harvey provides holiday cover for the Medical Secretary role and is also the Safeguarding Admin Lead. Ella Perkins and Leah Harvey are part of the scanning and workflow team, responsible for ensuring hospital correspondence and other clinical documents are accurately scanned, coded, and added to patients' records in a timely manner.

Emma Henshaw provides holiday cover for scanning and workflow duties. Both Ella Perkins and Leah Harvey also work as GP Assistants, supporting clinicians with a range of administrative tasks to help ensure smooth day-to-day operation of clinical services. Ella Perkins is the Learning Disability Admin Lead, working to support the practice in maintaining accurate registers and assisting with related administrative processes. Emma Henshaw is the Lead for Total Triage, liaising daily with GPs regarding forms, clinical queries, and triage appointments to help manage patient flow effectively. Please note that insurance reports can take up to 28 days to complete.

Reception

Sally Alfrey is the senior receptionist. She has a team of 10 receptionists, Barbara Poole, Debbie Alway, Alisha Brookes, Ella Perkins, Kirstie Matthews, Demi Ball, Venetia Gilbert, Sarah Peasgood, Sam Pentney and Emma Henshaw.

Dispensary

The practice has seven staff members who work in the dispensaries across both surgeries. The Dispensers are Sally Alfrey, Laura Orgill, Sorina Poclitaru, Julie Tomlinson, and Hannah Thornton. Clare Davenport and Venetia Gilbert provide holiday cover for the dispensaries at both sites.
