This website is run by Newbold Verdon Medical Practice and Market Bosworth Surgery. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it.

For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the whole website using just a keyboard
  • navigate the whole website using speech recognition software
  • listen to the whole website using a screen reader

We have also tried to make the words on this website as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability. This link opens in a new window.

How accessible this website is

We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible. At the moment:

  • you cannot open the drop-down menus at the top of the page using a keyboard - they only open when a mouse pointer is held over them
  • the headings on most pages are not in a logical order, which makes the pages harder to move around with a screen reader
  • a few banner images are pictures of words rather than real text, so a screen reader cannot read them and they blur if you enlarge them
  • some of our older downloadable documents are not accessible - for example, they cannot be read properly by a screen reader

What we have already fixed

Since this statement was first written in August 2026 we have:

  • removed the setting that stopped you pinching to zoom in on a phone or tablet
  • added a ‘skip to content’ link, so keyboard users can jump straight past the menu
  • cut the moving panel on the home page to two slides, slowed it down, and added working pause, previous and next buttons - it also stops on its own if your device is set to reduce motion
  • removed the boxes that used to open by themselves when you arrived on a page
  • replaced the practice team poster and the panels about contacting us online with real text
  • added written descriptions to the images that were missing them
  • set the page language on every page
  • rewritten the links that said only ‘click here’, ‘here’ or ‘more’

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Newbold Verdon Medical Practice and Market Bosworth Surgery is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, because of the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  1. The drop-down menus in the main navigation open only when a mouse pointer is held over them, so they cannot be reached with a keyboard. This fails success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard). We plan to fix this by 30 September 2026. In the meantime every page can be reached using the search box at the top of the page, or from links within the pages themselves.
  2. Headings on most pages jump from level 1 to level 4, so the structure a screen reader announces does not match the structure on the page. This fails success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). We plan to fix this by 31 October 2026.
  3. A few banner images still present words as part of a picture rather than as text - for example the banners for SystmOnline, the NHS App and our practice awards. This fails success criterion 1.4.5 (Images of Text). We plan to fix this by 31 October 2026.

Disproportionate burden

We are not claiming that any part of this website would be a disproportionate burden to fix.

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Documents published before 23 September 2018. Some of the documents on this website were published before 23 September 2018 and are not essential to providing our services. Under the accessibility regulations we do not have to fix these. We will make any document accessible on request - please use the contact details above. Any new document we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Services provided by other organisations. Some of the services we link to or show on this website are run by other organisations and are outside our control. These include the NHS App, the NHS ‘Register with a GP surgery’ service, the online consultation and triage forms provided by Accurx, SystmOnline, the NHS practice catchment map, the Care Quality Commission rating panel and the maps provided by Google. Each of those organisations publishes its own accessibility statement.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

The website was reviewed in full in August 2026, page by page, against NHS England’s guidance Creating a highly usable and accessible GP website for patients and against WCAG 2.2 AA. That review produced the list of problems above, and we are working through them in this order:

  1. By 30 September 2026 - make the drop-down menus work with a keyboard.
  2. By 31 October 2026 - correct the heading order across the site, and replace the remaining banner images that carry words with real text.
  3. By 31 December 2026 - review the documents we offer for download, replace those that are out of date, and publish the essential ones as web pages rather than as PDFs wherever we can.

We will update this statement as each of these is completed.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 24 August 2026. It was last reviewed and updated on 25 August 2026. We review it at least once a year, and it is next due for review by 24 August 2027.

This website was last tested on 25 August 2026. The testing was carried out by SurgerySites (NoticeBoardTV Ltd), who maintain the website for the practice.

We tested every page on the website - all 29 pages that can be reached from the menu, the home page and the footer - rather than a sample. Testing combined automated checks made against the live website with manual testing in a browser: navigating by keyboard only, checking headings and image descriptions, checking every internal and external link, and viewing the site at both desktop and mobile screen widths.
